I, Rena Segal, grew up in an artistic household. My father, George Segal ( the sculptor) encouraged me to draw what was out windows and objects that meant something to me. From an early age I was exposed to various mediums: pencils, paint, pastels, canvas and paper. I knew at sixteen that I wanted to be a painter.

I received my BFA from Montclair University, 1975, and MFA from Rutgers University 1977.

Currently,  I reside in New Jersey where I was born and reside in the home that I grew up in. I’m president of The George and Helen Segal Foundation.
